The object of The Friends of St Mary’s Church is to help preserve the fabric of our wonderful medieval church. This work is of real benefit to the Church Council, to church members, to our many visitors and to future generations.
Over the years The Friends have raised money for many projects and repairs, including provision of the refreshment area; pew runners and kneelers; window grilles; refurbishment of the church tower; renewal of the south transept roof; and, the re-lettering of the chancel arch.
We shall be concentrating our fund-raising efforts this year on the stones of St Mary’s in need of repair.
Membership of the Friends is open to all at £10 per annum or £50 for life membership, and we would like more people to help us to preserve our historic medieval church for future generations to appreciate and worship there. Fundraising events to come:
The Friends have a Spring Fair on Saturday 24 March from 11am to 2pm at St Mary’s Parish House, Castle Road with stalls and refreshments so please support us if you can.
Our Flower Festival 2018 will be from Saturday 26 to Monday 28 May 2018 with a preview on Friday, 25 May; more details will be given in the next magazine. Our Church is always beautified with flowers so If you would like to contribute to the flower fund this would be lovely.
